Mountain Chicken!

I am mis-using closed captions for a gag. The following video has an audio track and four sets of captions (for now?). Each set of captions is in English. Only one set of captions represents the spoken dialog, the other two represent dialog not in the video. The tracks are exposed in modern browsers by the names I have assigned them.

I did not make an audio described version of the video, but following the video is a transcript for each caption track. The VTT files (and video) are also linked within the <video> element for those cases where your browser does not support <video> but your local media player lets you import caption files.

Probably best viewed on a monitor in portrait orientation. You know, the one you use to read documents and shout at PDFs. Oh, and maybe with volume down if you are at the office because some employers choose to get faint over naughty words but not wage theft.

Be sure to try the different sets of captions.

All the new dialog is courtesy Scott O’Hara, with minor edits by this guy (me).

Transcript for original video.

Looking over the shoulder of a toy tan and red dinosaur as another random toy dinosaur is flung with a great deal of force into a wall, from right to left, falling to the carpet. The text “Mountain chicken” is emblazoned across the bottom of the video.

Angry dinosaur, off-screen: “MOTHER FUCKER!”

A toy green carnivorous angry dinosaur abruptly appears in frame from the right.

Angry dinosaur, shouting: “YOU!”

Tan dinosaur: “Hm!?”

Angry dinosaur: “Have you ever heard of a mountain chicken?”

Tan dinosaur, whispering: “Please don’t hurt me.”

Angry dinosaur, right next to face of tan dinosaur and quietly sinister: “Have you ever heard of a mountain chicken?”

Tan dinosaur, quietly, stepping back: “No.”

Angry dinosaur, also quietly: “What do you think it looks like?”

Tan dinosaur, voice quavering: “Like a really big chicken?”

Angry dinosaur, shouting: “THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT BUT NO!”

Angry dinosaur turns and shows a tablet with a photo of a large frog.

Angry dinosaur, shouting: “IT’S THIS MOTHERFU—!”

Video abruptly ends.
