I’m currently in (the airport of) Cluj-Napoca (Romania) on my way back home from speaking JSHeroes. At the event, I gave a talk on Scroll-Driven Animations with CSS.

# The Talk
The talk I gave is a full-length talk of a little over 30 minutes.
A new addition to CSS are “Scroll-Driven Animations”. With it, you can link animations to the scroll offset of a scroll container using only CSS — no JavaScript needed! In this demo-heavy presentation, we’ll dig into what this spec has to offer and dissect some of its demos (such as a working Cover Flow implementation) + use-cases.
The talk was a slightly updated version of the one I gave at WebExpo last year.
I also participated in a panel with Miriam Suzanne, Hidde de Vries, and Dan Shappir on Standards, moderated by JSHeroes co-organiser Alex Moldovan

# Recording/Video
The talk was recorded and will be published to their YouTube channel soon. I will update this post once the video is published.
Graphic artist Oana Zăuleț also made a sketchnote of the presentation, which you can see here:

# Thanks!
Thanks to the organizers for having me again and thanks to the attendees for being there. It was great to have a full room full of you at such a wonderful location. Unlike last year I did stay around after the event to join the crew and speakers for a post-event traditional Romanian BBQ.

I really like JSHeroes, it’s one of those events that is not doing this with the goal of making a huge profit but that is doing it in service of the crowd – They simply “get it”. All talks were of high quality but unfortunately I had to miss the first few ones as I was flying in from Prague where I spoke the day before.
